Learn about IC-SSCWS 2027 and the Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy.
Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA), established in 2014 with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is a specialized institution dedicated to capacity building, research, and innovation in Pakistan’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector. Operating under the Punjab Water & Sanitation Authority (P-WASA), AJWA serves as the sector’s training and Research & Development (R&D) arm, delivering technical and managerial training while promoting evidence-based solutions to emerging water challenges. Through strategic partnerships with national and international organizations, the Academy has developed advanced training programs, technical resources, and practical learning facilities that strengthen the professional capacity of water sector institutions.
To advance research and knowledge exchange, AJWA is launching its flagship International Conference on Sustainable, Smart and Climate-Resilient Water Systems, providing a platform for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, utilities, development partners, NGOs and industry experts to share innovative research, technologies, and best practices. The conference will promote collaboration between academia and the water sector, encourage peer-reviewed research publications, and contribute to the development of a national WASH knowledge repository. Through this initiative, AJWA aims to establish itself as a leading center for research, innovation, and international collaboration, supporting sustainable, climate-resilient, and future-ready water and sanitation services in Pakistan and beyond.
